Carl D. Stutsman for State Representative District 48
"You know what we do in Indiana? We build really cool things. In Elkhart County we are home to some of the country's most recognizable brands, across multiple Industries, and we build it all with pride. It's perhaps this regions great legacy that when industry and innovation comes knocking we always seem to step up. Whether its fire hose nozzles or toy haulers our continued purpose has been to build a diverse community in which we all can thrive.
It is therefore, unfortunate that neither that pride nor work ethic seems to be reflected in our local leadership. Indiana has been under Republican majority or supermajority control for the past two decades and the effects are starting to show. You needn't look further than the federal push for mid-decade redistricting in Indiana as proof that voters wants are no longer a republican priority.
Does it really feel right that roughly $1.5 billion of Hoosier taxpayer money has been pumped into private schools through vouchers, with another billion approved? Does it feel right that our millionaire governor charged taxpayers for his own private helicopter pad? Does it feel right that Hoosiers face record high utility bills and data centers are trying to move in? It shouldn't.
So it's time for us to build back better.. It may be naive, but in a community thats survived together for this long...through layoffs and recessions, natural disasters and cultural change...I believe the things that separate us are not that big and together we can build the best Indiana" ~Carl

Indiana's Super Majority has managed to funnel nearly $1.5 billion into private education through vouchers over the last three years. Meanwhile, public schools have lost vital funding at the state and federal level. This has disproportionately affected working and middle class communities, and benefited the GOP's wealthiest donors.
Public Schools are our #1 community resource and shouldn't be considered second class learning institutions by our leaders. We understand the challenges that face parents of school age children, especially those with special needs. Those resources are vital for working class families with limited resources. We need to keep public dollars in public schools, and re-fund what should be our most treasured asset.

It's interesting that the party of small government and lower taxes has found ways to increase their own influence and take more of your money every year.
As Hoosiers we take pride in our hard work, and we want to see those dollars benefiting our own backyards. Not funding a private helipad for the Governor, covering mounting legal fees for our attorney general, and giving tax breaks to the wealthy.
Your property bill is higher, your utility bills are higher, your grocery bill is higher., your paycheck feels smaller, and the most vulnerable among us are more at risk than ever.

Our government either works for all of us, or none of us, and our voice is your vote. It's not a problem unique to Indiana, and just because they aren't physically stoping you from voting doesn't mean your voice isn't being taken away.
Indiana continues to operate without independent redistricting and has redrawn lines again and again to maintain majority control for the party. We only narrowly survived the late 2025 redistricting push, and the biggest GOP players in Indiana chastised their colleagues for doing what was right.
In 2026 we will need historic mid-term turnout to end the GOP supermajority, as efforts will continue to silence Hoosiers fed up with the status quo.

We need your help! Times are tough, and asking for money is hard but a win tomorrow starts with your support today. Elkhart County deserves active leadership and every dollar gets us one step closer.
